Bring on the Bolshoi: Preston girl off to study at world-class ballet company in Moscow

Valley Record: Chloe, the daughter of Wade Heninger and Kristin Bennett of Preston, is well on her way toward that goal, since she began her training with the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow last month. She was offered a place in the academy in September, after she unknowingly auditioned for the spot during a three-week camp, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Summer Intensive, in Connecticut last summer. Read More

Armenian Youth Wow Audience at Carnegie Hall

Armenian Weekly: Sat., Oct. 13 was both a revelation and a celebration, as 30 young people, aged 10-18, wowed an appreciative audience, showcasing their individual musical talents. This was the fourth annual “Direct Help for Armenian People” (DHAP) performance, and this year it was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s membership to the United Nations….Dr. Svetlana Amirkhanian, thanked the parents, grandparents, and jury members who had auditioned dozens of young musicians. Following in the Footsteps of Another’s Past

Vancouver Sun: Earlier this year, Shan auditioned for a spot with the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto, which told her that, while she danced well, she was, at 5’2”, too short. Her height, however, was not a problem for the Bolshoi, which, after Shan auditioned, awarded her a spot in its annual six-week program in New York this last summer. She did so well there the Bolshoi invited her to continue her studies in Russia. She is the only Canadian among 750 students to be invited to study at the Bolshoi Academy in Moscow this year. Ballerina Nicole Zadra Chases Dance Dreams

EBONY: In August of this year, Nicole Zadra, of Irvington, New York was offered a traineeship at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. Established in 1773, the institution has trained “a world class of dancers.”  Zadra, who has been learning ballet since she was four-years-old, has dreamed of being part of this legacy since watching Youtube videos of the Bolshoi when she was younger. Read More
