Photography Exhibition

Over the past 20 years, founder of the high-end interior design firm “Design Studio Romani,” Roman Vnoukov, has created almost 400 interiors for private and commercial spaces in the U.S and worldwide. The gentle elegance of modern classics inspires Roman to create spaces with beautiful palettes and harmonious forms.  His most recent work is a total reconceptualization of the luxurious & futuristic flagship boutique and headquarters for Jacob & Co. on 57th St and Park Ave in Manhattan.

An Open Screening of the Documentary "Doctor Sasha”

Film Screening

“Doctor Sasha” is a film about Alexander Ioselevich: Soviet officer, military doctor, communist, Jew, prisoner, who survived 9 concentration camps and saved hundreds of lives of other prisoners. The film premiered in Austria and on Israeli television. The gripping documentary was shown on 5 central television channels in Russia and many other regional and cable channels as well. The artistic director of the project is Honored Artist of Russia, Alla Surikova. Author and director: V. Serkez. Producer: A. Potashnikov.

Russian-American Writers: The Heritage of Female Writers through Contemporary Lens

Roundtable Discussion

This roundtable discussion will feature female voices of contemporary Russian-American fiction. Moderated by Columbia University professor Anna Katsnelson, the panel will include the authors Yelena Akhtiorskaya, Sana Krasikov, Ellen Litman, Irina Reyn and Lara Vapnyar. The discussion will focus on the significant achievements of Russian-American women in literature and their connection to contemporary movements like #MeToo.

Bukharian Jewish Community Festival

Community Festival

The Bukharian-Jewish community of Queens celebrates its heritage and talents this afternoon at a fair with fascinating performances by local talents. The festival will feature leading health care service providers, senior and medical centers working on-site to educate visitors and offer free services. Special raffle and memorable souvenirs.

This roundtable will address Kazakh-American relations in the 21st century with a special emphasis on art and cultural exchange between two great nations.

“At the Crossroads of Asia and Europe”:  20th Century Masterpieces from A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts

Art Exhibition

The exhibition brings together some of the most vibrant cultural and historical examples of 20th century Kazakh visual art, featuring the masterpieces of Abylkhan Kasteyev, Moldakhmet Kenbayev, Aisha Galimbayeva, Tursun Abuov, Sabur Mambeyev, and many others teaching about the richness and creativity of 20th century masters. Presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the U.S. and Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York. Dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of Astana.

A Classical Music Concert Honoring the 70th Anniversary of Independence of Israel

The “Joy of Freedom” concert opens the doors for young aspiring intellectuals and performers of classical music from the U.S., Russia and Israel. Students of the renowned music educator and pianist Genya Paley (Special Music School of America, Preparatory Division of the Mannes College of Music, among others) will be joined by the rising talents of the Ezro Malakov’s “Academy of  Bukharian Shashmaqam”.
