The Russian American Health Coalition (RAHC) is a collaborative initiative between community groups, faith-based organizations, and the public and private healthcare sectors. RAHC was created in consultation with CAUSE-NY, the community-building arm of the Jewish Community Relations Council of NY, which was instrumental in establishment of Northern Queens Health Coalition, Lower Manhattan Healthcare Coalition, Greater Southern Brooklyn Health Coalition, and many other successful local, national, and international initiatives.
RAHC's mission is to reach out to the health care system of New York and better connect it to the Russian-speaking community—the third-largest ethnic group in the area—in order to ensure that the community’s healthcare needs are met. RAHC programming focuses on awareness and education within the community and the healthcare industry.
The Executive Director of RAHC is Rina Kirshner and its Advisory Committee consists of:
The Russian American Health Coalition is working to reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease in the Russian-speaking community by encouraging people to cut their consumption of the sugar-sweetened beverages.
