"The Russian American Foundation's continued contributions to cultural, educational, and sports programs in the United States and Russia help foster greater understanding between the people of the United States and the Russian Federation."
Honorable Michael A. McFaul
US Ambassador to Moscow
May 2012
For the fourth year in a row, the Russian American Foundation has been selected for the highly prestigious NSLI FOR YOUTH Program, supported by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, in cooperation with American Councils for International Education. RAF's NSLI-Y Program empowers the American youth and prepares them to be future global ambassadors through an unmatched opportunity for Russian language training, cultural immersion, and pre-professional ballet training with Master Teachers of Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet Academy. For more information please visit our NSLI for Youth Program page.
The Russian American Foundation was founded in 1997 to encourage interest in and understanding of Russian heritage among all communities in the US, as well as to promote reciprocal interest in and understanding of American heritage among global Russian-speaking communities.
Over the years, RAF's mission has expanded to incorporate national programs aimed at:
- Promoting economic and social development, progress, and well-being within the Russian-speaking community of New York and the greater United States
- Promoting a better understanding and acceptance of the Russian-speaking community among the various other communities of New York and the greater United States.
- Assisting the Russian-speaking community of New York and the greater United States in preserving its heritage, culture, and language.
